What's still flowering ..

Many of you still seem to have a great deal of flower in your plots. Not so much here, but I can’t say I’m not pleased that it’s mostly shutting down!
Hydrangeas. The red one is newly planted out.
Most of our acers have defoliated. These still have some colour.
Cranesbills: psilostemon and ‘ElworthyEyecatcher’. We’ve had the latter for a few years but it sulked so I moved it this summer and it prefers where it is. Late to flower.
Phygelia – very late flowering.
Alstroemeria, ditto. Only flower we’ve had from any of them this year.
Persicaria, pink and red. Brilliant, willing plants!

You do still have lots of colour Ange and it's a shame about your Alstromeria. Is it a new one?
I usually cut the stem of a finished flower and then another one will grow in it's place.
Your new hydrangea looks good!

No, Klahanie, the year races on. Still lots of good-looking large trees on the estate. I expect the anticipated storms of the next few days with cover us in leaves and branches!
Rose, thank you. I have a number of alstros. dotted about the garden but all very reluctant to show any sign of life this season. P'raps not the ideal plants for my plot!

Like many others, you've still lots of pretty colour, Ange. Love your hydrangeas too, the new red one is still persisting with rich colour.
I've not tried Persicaria. Yours are both really attractive. Are they evergreen? Just that OH has been gardening while I was away and I've now a couple of spots free.

I wouldn't give up yet Ange! Although mine flower on and off through the season, they weren't quite as frequent this year. Just having a last minute spurt at the moment!

Kate, I have 3 in the garden at the moment. The pink one I show I'm afraid I don't know the name of (Open Garden purchase) but it is very light and airy, about 2.5ft tall. I also have 'Orangefield' which I think Daylily grows too, about same height but I find a bit sparse in salmon-pink. She may find otherwise! My fave is 'Blackfield', shown here, dark red, middle height and makes a neat clump. The tallest I have had is 'Firetail' and is a scorching red. We dug it up recently as it had made a large, tall clump in the wrong place (mea culpa), so I have kept a bit for replanting in the back of a border. I love it, but it is vigorous for me. Easy to dig out though - OH wrestled manfully! Not evergreen, die back and flower later summer.
I live in hope, Rose!

Thanks for your reply, Ange.I appreciate your info. One to consider I think. You've a lovely selection.

Well, Kate, if you decide you want a bit of any of them let me know and I'll send you some. All mine grew reasonably quickly from single 9cm pots.

It's nice to have colourful plants lasting well into the autumn :)
