The white garden has got to be my favourite...it looks lively, yet serene. Thanks for sharing another part of your visits in Somerset, Shirley.

That's some apple crop...and the pumpkins seem to be growing up a frame....I've never seen that before. When our children were young we tried to grow pumpkins (this was in Canada) and they all rotted from the excessive rain. Had we a frame as pictured here perhaps that would have worked better. It'll soon be the season for pumpkin pies....yummy :) ....with a dash of whipped cream of course.

Lovely blog. Its nice to hear that people care enough to try and keep these old properties going. It looks like a lovely house set off by a very homely garden. I especially like the idea of companion planting in the veg plots. I am not keen on the white garden but maybe if I could see it in real life I might 'get' the atmosphere. That is a great crop of apples. We have a good crop in the garden along with some very nice Victoria plums this year. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks Shirley, I really enjoy visiting places like that myself, I`ve always had a fascination for these grand old houses and if there`s a garden as well then thats me a happy bunny. That white garden looks a bit sugary but I like it,lol........

Whistonlass, on our visit the gardeners were giving talks on the vegetable plot to a coachload of visitors ! I was tempted to stand with them and pretend I was with their party ... lol !
Scotsgran, the house is empty right now, people were invited to write their comments on cards and pin them on a board. Very mixed views on should the house be furnished or not !
Ks, the White Garden was even better in real life than a photo. It was a really calming effect after the riot of colour in the vegetable plot and the Rose Garden.
Lincs, the interior walls of the house were fantastic, when you think how chickens had run around inside for years ... lol !

Grindle, I was unsure of the White Garden at first, after all the colour we'd seen before, yet it was a very beautiful garden.

Very interesting blog - I love the wood panelling and the fireplace, beautiful. The gardens definitely look something special too. Sounds like you had a good time. I wonder if you bought any of those lovely heucharas?

Gee, I was loitering around the plant sales area for a while but OH didn't take the hint ! I think the cost of our garden make-over has stretched the gardening budget to its' limit this year. : o ((((( I've been potting up Penstemon cuttings today, cheaper than buying from a GC, so long as they thrive !
