The Garden Community for Garden Lovers

I just love container planting, especially since my neighbours let me loose on theirs. Armed with a good sum of money, permission from my neighbours to buy whatever I needed & an active imagination I planted up 2 troughs using a mixture of bulbs, small shrubs and plants. In total the contents of the 2 troughs came to £35, I think this is a lot of money but I really enjoyed the opportunity to experiment & I’m quite proud of the results! I’m also looking forward to planting the shrubs out in the garden when I dismantle the troughs so maybe it wasn’t so expensive after all…..

Lovely, Karen. Is the other one different? You must have nice neighbours - don't they like gardening? I enjoy planting up containers, too, even though I have a big garden. It somehow is very satisfying to create a small-scale area of planting - and of course you can change the contents each season!

Its great to read your blog Karen.
Our garden is almost entirely container grown. Its hard work but so satisying. As you mention each container is a garden in its own right, and you can colour theme each planter or design it as you wish and alter the themes simply by moving pots or containers around. Its also a good way of growing plants that require special soil or differing conditions.
Best wishes and happy gardening.
