Plants I am enjoying together (although the borders are still far too overplanted). I think I shall never get spacing right!
Verbascums:

Lupins. Most seem to be darker colours.

Viburnum, Dame’s Violet, alliums

Geranium cinereum and potentilla

Spiraea and accidently colour co-ordinated friend.

A cacophony of yellow

More lupins and aquilegias

Climbing Lady Hillingdon and one of the Countesses

A mix of weigela, alliums, geranium and iris

Same border

Everything seems to be rushing into bloom together. What an odd year!

Thank you, Meadow.
I'm off this pm to remove pyracanthas and other bits from one of the overplanted borders near the house. Wish me luck!

good luck :o)

the garden is looking very good and I don't think they are over planted. You should see mine haha!

SBG, it's just that some of the 'treasures' are disappearing and if I forget about them, they'll definitely be lost forever! None of the birds use the pyracanthas so time for a rethink. And I have plenty waiting for a home!! :(

Beautiful Combinations Anget. You have an eye for design.

If you dont fill the borders, nature will do that for you.

Thanks, Bathgate, glad you like them.

Oh Siris, She does that quite successfully already, but it does all need editing! They pyracanthas have gone - they caused lacerations where they were and although the buzzies like the flowers, the birds never looked at the berries. The one that is left hasn't flowered or fruited for the last 3 years and the birds loved that. Perverse!

A mother of my local nursery owner always tells me:
If you do not control nature it will control you. She often sits on a "memory bench" (husband's) and loves to chat with customers. Grand old lady.
I like the pleasant look of your borders Anget. Some lovely plants there .

Exactly, Klahanie. I hate the feeling of plants "getting away" from me. I'm happy to edit and don't like the borders to feel overwhelmed by too much growth which is what it often does. On the other hand I'm not keen on gaps. I need to find the happy medium and so I'm still trying....

I love your plant combinations.I prefer a not too orderly garden but orderly enough not to get on top of you.A relaxed kind of overgrown look if you see what I mean.

You've hit the nail on the head, Gerardine! I love what I've seen of your garden.

Loving the colour scheme too, Ange! You’ve an abundance of very pretty flowering plants and cottage bedders too.
I think you’re right, finding a happy medium is the way I would garden too..happy medium, happy gardener!
( your lupins are beautiful)

It's very pretty, I don't think you have trouble with spacing, it looks nice like that :)

Kind of you to say so, Hywel.

Glad you like the colour schemes, Kate.

It all looks lovely, & gardens do look best when they are full. However some plants do get too big & crowd others out so some weeding out or chopping back is necesssary.

I love your lupins. Mine never look so good.

Lovely Anget, I do love a good combo :-)

Thank you, Fever. I'm refereeing at the moment - lots can go.

Paul, I grew these from seed and ended up with lots of muddy mauves. I weeded out the ones I didn't like and they've just grown. I do deadhead them regularly. I find they take ages to get big enough to plant out and the slugs adore them, so I'm lucky if I get more than 3 or 4 plants out of a packet. Having said that, the steepish price of paying for individual plants makes the effort worthwhile.

Anget I`m a big fan of over packed borders, you have some lovely combinations, love the way th Aquilegia has nestled herself within the Spiraea.

12 Jun, 2021

I'm like Stroller - a fan of overstuffed borders, but of course things do disappear sometimes. Last Autumn I fractured my wrist which took ages to heal, this was followed by loads of wet weather, then cold and winter - so the weeds grew high and tall. Still tackling the nettles and dead nettles and discovered two small Acer plants, several Hostas I had 'mislaid' so it's now a bed that is a bit less full. You can practically hear them sigh!

12 Jun, 2021

Thank you, Stroller. I have a pale lemon aquilegia popping up beside the pink one now! I must have thought there was space in that spot when I planted them out - obviously there wasn't!

HSG, I'm glad your wrist has recovered. It's so frustrating when you're forced just to sit and watch the weeds grow! How lovely to 'find' acers..

it's a very lush garden Anget! Your lupins are superb especially. You really got your planting schemes well

20 Jun, 2021

You are exactly the same as me Anget! Can't get enough in the borders ! Haha! I love all of your borders but I especially like your yellow border!

21 Jun, 2021

Thank you, Paul. I'm already frustrated by things flopping over after the rain. I feel a clear-out coming on - especially the large poppies, now collapsed onto their neighbours. 'One-hit-wonders' which are off my 'like' list!!

I like the yellow, too, Rose. I think some of the other areas are a bit anaemic!

21 Jun, 2021

yes my mollis does it very much , but i love it and it's scent. MY poppies gone too now.

21 Jun, 2021

I haven't seen a slug in years. I wonder where they've gone.

22 Jun, 2021

They're all in my garden, B'gate!
