Starlings are in decline.
‘Our’ parents have done very well this year. We regularly see them with 6 young or more in a group round the water trough we keep filled on the grass.
Looked up this lunchtime to see this mob on a house close by. Sorry the pics aren’t the best but you get the gist. They were nearly all youngsters. A delight to see.

Wonderful pictures Anget. So Many. .....

our parent ones raised 5 and in the community we have about 40 youngsters. They are on the UK red list which means nationwide they are in serious trouble. If they were a panda all sorts would be being done to save them.

Thank you all. It made me laugh when I caught sight of them all. We have had a number of adults with young in the garden because we feed the birds on a regular basis so they are used to keeping an eye on us to see what's available. Haven't seen 40+ before, though!
Great viewing yesterday: a pair of buzzards circling and calling with 4 young. And today, a pair of red kites with 1 youngster.

Wow amazing, I saw a small flock about 10 in our tree last weekend but couldn't tell what they were but think they were great tits, but it is lovely to see when there are so many :-)

love watching all the birds .

D'lily, perhaps your birds were new fledglings! Ours seem to stick together for a while before they disperse.

Paul, feeding the birds is a cost but we get so many rewards from doing it.

Thanks, Rose.

I agree with Rose - great photos! Starlings used to be regular visitors to our back garden, pecking away at the lawn for bugs, sadly we have seen very few this year.

We do have Seagulls, Magpies, Pigeons, all the big birds that land and bend branches ... :o((
