Late Summer yellows.

I love the plants associated with this time of year. Much of my plot is in shades of yellow and mauve which cheer me up no end.
Archway:

A bit of a riot. Various small and tall rudbeckias, and helenium ‘Kanaria’ – the only helenium that will stay with us.
Rudbeckia "Herbstsonne’:

Waves at me from above! Gorgeous (and isn’t a thug here.)
Close-up of both:

A couple of new additions: (not yellow..)

Phlox Sweet Summer Dream ‘Orange Rose’.

A mouthful of a name. It is an orange-rose colouring which doesn’t show up well here. Its dark stems and colour go well with the verbena ‘Bampton’ and the calamint beside it. It’s small at about 12 inches.

Miscanthus ‘Malepartus’

I’m trying to find a way of blending a few grasses into the border.

Bird-offering sedum (how lucky is that?) A pretty burnished red. Filling out nicely now and a bee-magnet.

Finally, my one and only surviving Cosmos, the last of a whole packet of seeds:

I am guarding it with my life!

Yellows and purples are my favourite colours Anget! I can't believe how tall your plants are!

So pleased you showed the Helenium,Ang....do you have it as a perennial? I'm looking for Lemon Queen missed the boat this year...I've noticed them growing so attractively in gardens.

Yes, Rose, in that area they do force you to look up. The helenium is head height, too! It is rather jungly and exuberant.

We shall be splitting the helenium at some point if you want a slip of it, Meadow. It is perennial and one I wouldn't be without. Head height.
Also have Lemon Queen but it is in a drier bit of the garden so not very floriferous yet. We may have to move it. Earlier in the year I bought Carine which is even taller, but in all our excavations and throwing out, haven't found the right home for it yet.

Thank you,Ang,if you think it will travel well...I did look at the GC yesterday..the arch looks spectacular. Is your overhauling completed yet?

Love your Phlox sweet summer dream, and I’m glad you have Verbena Bampton too … all my visitors ask for a seedling! Have you ever managed to collect its seed?

Looks lovely Anget, very cheerful, I have a lot of yellow and white this year, Rudbekia and Phlox both of which are very tall, my Cosmos are huge, very lush and only just started to produce flowers...

Meadow, will do. We're not finished yet. We have 2 more small areas to do, but busy for the next couple of weeks. We have replanted some areas with a few shrubs (cotinus and pittosporums) and moved perennials further apart etc. etc. I have tried to keep some space between plantings.... I seem to remember I said I would try some cuttings for you, too. Was it penstemon 'Alice Hindley'? I've done some but they haven't rooted yet. Trying some in water, too, as Amy suggested. We shall see. Sorry, brain like a sieve!

Sheila, 'Bampton' seeds all over here, but I love it. I have a forest of tiny seedlings coming up round Mother Plants at the moment! I think the phlox may go greener as it matures; I shall have to wait and see. It looks good at the moment.

Lincs, I am very envious of everyone's cosmos. For 2 years running my seed plantings have been a dismal failure. The slugs even got into the greenhouse and finished them all off. And that's the only place I use pellets. Doesn't seem to deter them that much!

I love helenium as well for fall colour. I do not want to be without it. Your arch path is gorgeous

Ang,there is no hurry at all..will look forward to them in the Autumn. It was Alice Hindley...your clearance work is much more important...can't wait to see your garden next spring.

Love your yellows ... I uprooted some 'Lemon Queen' recently but still have a few at the very back of the garden ... such pretty flowers.

Anget I do use pellets in my g'house however I find the only ones that actually work are the sheeps wool ones, cannot use them on the garden itself even though they are harmless to pet, bird and hedgehog friendly as the smell attracts the dogs , I would have my garden wrecked, do use them in the pots and border at the front as the dogs cannot go out there, its very frustrating when ones new plants get eaten...

I once had really nice cosmos called 'Lemonade'. Then we had a storm. Now I have nothing! I love yellow in the garden. Such a cheery color.

Lincs, I'll have to look those pellets out.

Oh, Paul, sometimes gardening can be so frustrating!

gorgeous garden Anget , I have the malepartus - B&M were selling grasses . Your views are superb . Need some cheery photos as looks like here we are stuck under cloud for 2 or more weeks now :(

Ange, I have quite a few seedlings of Bampton too … not sure I can give them away while in flower?

27 Aug, 2021

Yes, definitely cloudy at the moment. It's been a very strange summer with the weather,

Sheila, I dig up my little babies and pot on. I have a larger one in the wrong place so shall risk moving it.

Thanks Ange .. I’ll do the same with my fingers crossed!
