We have had some very lucky purchases today from the stores.

I know a number of you were taken with my rose ‘Dame de Coeur’ last year which I purchased from H.B. 3 years or so ago. It has a fantastic scent and lovely colour and is an old rose from 1952. They had them again today in my local store for under £2 so I bought 3 more to make a group.

We went on to B & M and bought 3 small sarcoccoca confusa for a modest £10 for 3 and 4 pots of Galanthus elwesii Snow Fox for the same sum. More lucky finds. We did buy some food as well while we were out!

It is a mid-red, Siris.

SBG, it's hard to resist bargains, isn't it? I hadn't seen sarcoccoca for such a modest price before, though these are small plants which will be potted on.

I snuck in the roses, Sheila! We've bought these snowdrops before and they've bulked up well. We struggle to get some of the others to grow.

I don't think you can beat a red rose..Great buys,Ang.Do you know last Monday Tescos was selling a dozen roses for 20.00...the next day they were much cheaper!

This was what I was concerned about, Shirley. When do you give up trying? A gardening site with no pictures becomes a bit pointless...

It's possible to get some very nice plants from supermarkets these days :)
