Short blog on a short break!

By anget

A few days away in Devon.

We were very taken with the beauty of the espaliered apples, fronted by step-over apples at RHS Rosemoor:

And a walk from Fingle Bridge, near Drewsteignton:

There were dippers on the river but I was not quick enough to get a photo.

We were very lucky with the sunny weather.

I love Rosemoor, though it is years since I have been. I enjoyed my 'visit' with you.

Those espalier apples are magnificently pruned, wouldn't have expected anything less.

Apple trees look so nice when in bloom. I do have some and they are a picture at this time of the year.
I liked the visit from your pictures Ange. Nice place.

Yes, Meadow, it's unheard of for us to have sun while we're away!

We hadn't been to Rosemoor for some years, SBG. It was full of Men-With-Clipbords telling the minions what to do.

The apples were astonishing, Siris, and full of bees.

Glad you enjoyed before the photos disappear, Klahanie!!

Rosemoor is great but what I really enjoyed was the view from Fingle Bridge. Heaven on Earth! The pub there was where I first drank Rioja! I was very happy to see some years ago that the Woodland Trust have bought part of it so it should be safe for the future.

I would love to go to Devon, Anget, but much too far from us and I don't do motorways anymore, so thanks for sharing these pictures with us! So pleased you had good weather!
And Steragram, if you are reading this..what is Rioja!

Thank you for sharing, Ange. Hopefully you’ve had a thoroughly good break away!
I do love an espaliered tree! So elegant and attractive too.
Lovely bonus having fine and sunny weather too.

Stera, Fingle was so lovely on a sunny day. There were not so many people about this time and it's the first time we have been when it wasn't winter! A good place to be introduced to fine wine :-) Yes, I was plesed to read that the Woodland Trust are involved in its upkeep - I'm less than impressed with the N.T. nowadays...

I love Rosemoor, Sheila. I didn't post more photos because others on here have done it before. I know it's a favourite - you should visit if you get the chance.

Lincs, glad you enjoyed. Rosemoor is certainly worth a visit.

Rose, if we ever get to meet, I'll introduce you to Rioja!

Thanks, Kate. We visited a couple of plant Nurseries on the way back - (surely not??). Of that, more later!

Ladies, I was really taken with the whole veg and fruit area. Usually I'm indifferent but these spaces were absolutely beautiful with lots of fruit-planting ideas including different currants grown trained against walls as wellas the stunning espaliers.

Rose - Rioja is pronounced Riocca so perhaps you heard of it without the spelling! It is a very delicious red Spanish wine. I first tried it in the pub at Fingle bridge because it was on special offer, and never looked back, lol!
Anget, I forgot the mention the espalier- gorgeous!
