Rather than put up a lot of separate pictures I thought I would do a quick blog. of the plants which are starting to cheer up the garden.
First clematis:
‘Warsaw Nike’ and ‘Mrs N thompson’

My 3rd attempt to get ‘Rhapsody’ to grow. She seems to prefer to crawl at ground level! Last chance!

More ‘Nike’

First roses in bloom:

‘Jacqueline Dupre’

‘Tottering by Gently’ (which is what I’ve been doing today after experiencing a massive nosebleed this morning!)

Irises:
Inherited pale blue

‘Gold Galore’

’Sultan’s Palace’

Finally, a few bits round the borders.
This is the space we cleared last summer. I thought it looked very empty then. ‘Totally Tangerine’, home-grown lupins, iris.

Splitting up geums works, trying to tidy an
edge:

And a last picture of my (current) favourite geranium phaeum ‘Lisa’, planted this spring, split up and thriving. Really pretty leaves and dark, dark flowers. Every garden should have one!!

Love that Sultan's Palace Iris...

A lovely blog and photo's Ange, you have some lovely flowers and lots of colour, I keep admiring all the fabulous Iris's on the blogs and every year I wish I'd remember to add to my garden, I'm dippy and never remember when its time to buy and plant them, hey ho !!!!... I'll get them sometime, have plenty of blue but Gold Galore and Sultans Palace are real beauties...
.I also like geraniums and geums, they do well here for me and are brilliant for my style, as you said they split and take well which is always a bonus to me, I also have the dark one, it does well in both sun and shade., I do like the one you have just above Lisa, do you know its name, please .
I never have had any luck with clematis except the winter flowering ones so I've given up on them now, I admire them in others gardens instead.....

Enjoyed seeing lots of your pretty and colourful plants, Ange. Loving the two roses - gorgeous indeed.
Hope you’re feeling ok after your nosebleed?

Beautiful selection you have. What are the tangerine ones with the lupin? I really like them.

Meadow, it's quite a common one, probably in most GC's.

Lincs, from bottom, geums are: Bell Bank, Mai Tai (plants) and Borisii at the very top. I've found some potted Gold Galore in my coldframe. PM me if you want a piece or two.

Thanks for your kind words, Klahanie.

I was top-dressing my potted roses today, Kate. They all promise blooms which I'm pleased about as they're relatively new. J Dupre has been with me a while and always has a good scent at this time of year.
I'm used to nosebleeds, Kate, except his was a particularly nasty one, which I haven't had for a while. Thanks for asking.

Paul, it's nice when plants start to reveal their beauty. Are you happy with the changes you have made over the last few months? I seem to be always dissatisfied :-)

It's a geum, 'Totally Tangerine', Cal. Such a good and popular plant. Flowers for ages and should be easy to find.

I’m sorry it was a nasty episode, Ange, ant have been very pleasant for you. They usually come with a terrible headache too, so I do hope you are definitely feeling better this evening!
I think I’ll have to look after my ‘2’ roses better, as you say, some top dressing..I’ll do it this week!

Thank you Ange :) I’ll be keeping a look out for it, such a pretty plant.
