A Downunder Beginning-of-Autumn Gardening Weekend.

By bernieh

Finally we’ve had a break in the rain and the gloomy overcast skies means there’s also been a break in the heat lately.

The cyclone clean-up is over and we were able to get back to some of our usual gardening jobs.

Thanks Bloomer. We're both a whole lot more cheerful these days, despite the gloomy weather! Our place is starting to feel more like our place, rather than some huge mess!

Marguerite ... the instructions for adding links to web pages can be found on the 'Write A Blog' page. When you're writing a new blog, have a look down the right hand side and it's the last instruction. I hope you find it and then you can add links to your blog/s.

Sanbaz ... I bet you're out in the garden every evening now the days are slightly longer. Enjoy your springtime.

Sixpence, thanks for visiting my blog ... and I'm definitely getting more of those lovely white flowering plants, the Turnera. I'm heading to the nursery this weekend to find a couple.

Hombird ... yes cyclones can do a whole lot of damage. We were lucky really as we were around 200 kilometres away from the destructive eye. Fortunately I've never experienced being in the eye of a cyclone ... and Yasi was the highest rating for a cyclone so it would have been a horrible experience. We're so pleased our clean-up is over now, but I feel for those further north. They will be cleaning up for years.

You're most welcome, Marguerite. Yes we hit an all-time record for rainfall in March ... the highest amount ever recorded! It hasn't let up into April either. Both days have been dark, overcast and totally dreary ... not a sign of sunshine.

Sounds like torture over there ... you must be finding it hard to get out into the garden with those temps! Fingers crossed the heat breaks for you and the rain breaks for us! I'm missing our usual bright sunny blue-sky Autumn days.

Oh Bernieh, your garden after the last pictures I saw of the devastration, looks wonderful. I'm glad some of the trees are re growing, and you sound like you are enjoying replanting your new flower bed. You do have a great choise of plants.

Thanks TT and Sandygirl. Yes it's now mid-Autumn here and the 'dry' season has started. The rain has definitely stopped now, the skies are blue and the sun is out.

Sandygirl, many of the trees will be in recovery mode for quite some time especially given that we are now in our 'dry' season when we get little or no rain for the next 9 months or so. I will not be watering them ... too expensive for us ... so they will have to get on with it the best way they can. I won't be doing any more re-planting until the 'dry' is over.
