I have been having problems with my laptop this past few weeks,so a friend of my Daughters, has been giving it the once over.It was going well for a couple of days, but decided it wasn’t quite well enough to be signed off ,so it had to go back to the nice man, to get a clean bill of health !
So far so good..fingers crossed, and it’s nice to be able to catch up ,after being AWOL for quite some time.

The back garden has looked colourful this winter, and it’s been lovely to be able to spend quite a lot of time outdoors, in the good weather we were blessed with,so we haven’t felt confined as much as some people were,so we have felt very lucky..

Seedlings, cuttings etc are all growing well, and waiting in the Conservatory to be planted out when the time is right :o) Let’s hope for another good summer of colour.:o)
Take care everyone.. xx

Thank you Eileen,I felt lost for a while,so it's good to be back on track again. The Camellia has been wonderful this year, not much frost damage, which is good. I don't know the Variety,as my neighbour gave it to me,when they moved here,19 years ago.For some strange reason,he didn't want it ! my gain :o).
..........

Thank you Julia, nice to be back :o)
........
Thanks Anget. It's nice to see lots of colour ,especially in the winter months .Fingers crossed, the Gremlins have been disposed of for good ! :o)

Siris and Klahanie.you are so kind, and thank you for your nice comments :o)

Sandra its god to see you back. I was looking only yesterday at the blog you did about the strip of "public" land outside your garden. You do have some lovely colour - very cheering over lockdown.

29 Apr, 2021

Thank you Sue,and for looking back at one of my blogs, which is so nice of you .It is good to be back, and the 'Public' strip has filled up really well ,as we have a new next door neighbour, who moved in two years ago,and is a keen gardener,so it's all looking even better. Well, our sections are, as one part at the opposite end, which has a huge Sycamore,on a steep banking with lots of Evergreens, has been absolutely decimated by the recent new owners ! To say we are all sad and upset,is an understatement :o( At some point,I may even post a photo, but for now,I'm to angry and upset to do so ! Chain saw Massacre comes to mind !
We have coped very well over Lockdown, and I hope you have too.. xx

Such pretty pots in my favourite Spring colours. I love violas and primroses. For some strange reason primroses have self seeded all over the garden this year and have popped up everywhere - must be nature trying to cheer us all up!
What is the shrub on the right of the camellia? It has lovely white flowers, very dainty.

30 Apr, 2021

Thank you Chris,The Viola's have been much better than last years, and the.Primroses are all last years,.Both favourites of us both it seems :o) I did split the latter ,so I'm getting a nice collection together ..
The Shrub is a Pieris,'Forest Flame' ,and was a layered stem from the original ,(which I still have) .It's 19 years old now,as I layered it when we first moved here.Luckily, the new red foliage didn't get too frosted recently, but it will bounce back. Both like Ericaceous compost, like the other shrubs in that North facing Border. x

It all looks really good Bloomer. Like you I am waiting for the frost to stop so I can empty the greenhouse. I am still covering the Gunnera at night.

A lovely colourful garden. I'm sorry about the devastation caused by the new neighbour's. I wonder what they are planning for the site. Do let us know how things go. It is very nice of you & your other neighbour's to care for a public strip.

Thank you Linda,we had another keen frost last night,so it looks like I'll be putting my plants/cuttings out during the day,for a while yet,and bringing back inside later. It's been a sunny day,but with a cold wind too.

Thank you Feverfew. It is very sad to see,but to be honest,I don't think they will do anything to it,and it will probably stay just as it is ! They are an elderly couple but so are the rest of us who live in this little Cul de sac. They just aren't interested in gardening,or how it looks.
The 'Public' strip ,consists of each Bungalow ,having a long border running the full length of them all,but across our road, for which we are all responsible for each adjacent Section, opposite our property. It is only a quiet road, and only our cars /visitors/services use it.
We all help each other,if needed, and share plants etc,but looks like there will be one less household who will want to be part of our lovely little community..:o(

Glad your problem has been resolved and that you are up and running on the site again. Sad about the tree. So many creatures and birds rely on trees. People shouldn't be cutting down shrubs and trees at this time of the year anyway because of nesting time. I hate to see trees cut down too so you're not alone. Anyway nice that you're back on the site again. Take care and good gardening....Linda x

It's nice to see you back on here Sandra! I have only missed a couple of weeks, I think and if you have seen my blog, will know why!
You have some lovely colour there and like you, we had a dry sunny winter, not much frost either, so have spent a lot of time outdoors too!

3 May, 2021

Sandra cold you take a photo of the "end plot"? I'm not very good at visualising things (which shows in my gardening alas)

3 May, 2021

Thanks Linda, totally agree, and it's going to be a very long time before it regenerates to anything decent, especially for the wildlife..Anyway,what is done is done.Nice to be back, and after all this rain, that at least, has been what our gardens have been waiting for :o) x

Sandra, I'm not sure how I missed this but it's good to see you back on GoY once more. The photos of your pots and garden are lovely . . . hope you didn't suffer any damage with the overnight wind and rain?

4 May, 2021

Its so nice to have you back sharing your bright sunny pots with us they really do put a smile on your face heralding hopefully the start of a good gardening year which we all desperately want after such depressing months of lock down.

It's nice to be back Rose,thank you..:o)
I have just enjoyed looking at your blog, and lovely photo's of your garden, and glad you are fully recovered ,after your reaction to the Covid Jab..What an awful time you have had :o(
Winter weather seems to have been kind to most of our gardens this year, and thank goodness,we were at least, able to be outdoors in them during that time. ! We have also been able to go for walks with our Daughters dog,as we are all in a social bubble together.. Dog included ! lol xx

4 May, 2021

I had already taken some photo's Sue,of both the shared long border, and the steep one at the end, which is at the entrance to our cul de sac. so I will post them later. It is hard to visualise ,to be honest,so hope this makes it clearer.. x

Hello Shirley, no problem,as I quite often miss things at times, and thank you,it's nice to be back.:o) Sometimes a little break is needed ,or other things crop up ,which need our attention Lol.
We have had no damage at all,as we had no strong winds, only heavy rain, which everything seems to have been appreciated.Especially me,not having to water them ! .. finally, the rain has stopped now,and the sun has come out..yippee ! :o)

4 May, 2021

Thank you Stroller, and yes,it's been a worrying time for everone, and hopefully,we now have light at the end of a very long tunnel.! I do hope we can all get back to some sort of normality, and thank goodness we have had our gardens to look at,and to tend, when possible.take care, and Happy Gardenng to you too.:o) x

According to the weatherman early this morning, there were 90mph winds across the Isle of Wight overnight, not too far from us. It' s not so windy now, but still breezy. Not good enough for May 4th . . . :o(

4 May, 2021

Oh no,how awful,Shirley! I must have missed the forecast this morning. It's a bit breezy here ,but not too bad. Been a rubbish Bank holiday weekend for all those who had the day off yesterday. Our daughter took Tom and Alfie to Cannon Hall Farm near Barnsley, all togged up in Waterproofs, hats Wellies etc ! It didn't deter them at all Lol.x

4 May, 2021

Thank you Sheila.I think most of us seem tohave had a good display this year, I'm sure you have too :o) A few things are looking bedraggled at the moment, with all the heavy rain, but I'm sure they will bounce back..
