Don’t really know where this year has gone already but it has been a strange one at that I think, so regardless of the miserable weather last week was a good one for my wife Kim and I. It was that time of waiting for the call from the oncologist and as always you just feel in bits. But happy days, Kim’s cancer has remained stable even without any chemo for the last four months and the doc was delighted with her.
So onto the garden, as I have said before I think that I am really starting to get a balance where one season finishes I seem to have other flowers ready to come into bloom, so I have attached some more photo’s as the year has been progressing, think there is even a rose and a hydrangea I there as well :) :)
Think another thing that is cheering me up is that the dahlia’s are starting to come into flower now and i have quite a few new varieties in the garden, happy days

Fantastic news for Kim and you too, of course! I’m pleased that the oncologist had good news for you both. It’s been a pretty torrid time for you with her illness, but, add Covid-19 into the equation and it’s been horrific. It’s good to hear things are very positive for you both.
Your garden and photos are looking amazing, as usual, Davey! You’ve a lovely array of colour and plants, I’ll bet it’s quite cheering for both of you!

Thanks Kate, I think Kim's oncologist was nearly as buzzing as we were, she is such a lovely lady as well as the girls on the chemo ward who have been looking after us for the last three years, so much respect for them.

Happy days indeed Davey, I'm very pleased for you both, fabulous result and long may that continue, waiting for news is so very hard, been in that situation myself, helplessness and lack of being in control, its enough to send us all crazy if we were to let it, even more difficult at the moment with this virus, you're so right it is a strange one, beggar of a year and that's me being polite..
Thank goodness we do have our gardens and in your case photography to keep us busy, I actually felt it was an achievement when I had continuous flowers of some sort through two full years, give yourself a pat on the back, its taken me over 45years , lol, also keep sharing your lovely photo's, they are so good....

Thanks Linc's, yep you have summed it up exactly, it is like you are out of control on a roller coaster that you cant get of, but as you say we have our gardens and it does help to keep the sanity on the right side and to just keep plodding on.

Great & positive news to start a blog with, Davey! So pleased that your wife's cancer hasn't advanced during this time of lock down! :)

You have lots of fantastic colour in your garden & I like it that your Dahlias have started to flower! :)

One of mine has just started this week but the winds of the last few days have damaged some of the petals. :(

Thank you both stera and balcony, hopefully I can find some of the names for the dahlia’s as planted loads this year, but only kept a couple of the packages and when you start looking through the A to Z of dahlia id’s there are loads of them, oh dear :) :)

Good news is so very welcome at the minute, you must feel oh so relieved and here's to a bright future ahead!

I don't know what's the best, the flowers or the photos of them but you've done a spectacular job of both growing them and photographing them, well done!

What a beautiful collection of flowers you have Davey! I haven't seen you on here much so thought I would come and have a look at what you grow. You definitely have green fingers!
I am really sorry to hear about your wife's illness and hope she continues to improve. It must be such a worrying time for you both, but gardening is a big help, isn't it!
I got over breast cancer over 20 years ago and fingers crossed have kept well. My garden is my therapy.

Hi Rose thanks for your comments on both blogs, when we hear from people that have ben in a similar situation it gives us a lot of positivity.
As your husband can testify injuries at sea are not nice, I nearly lost the top of my thumb after it got caught in a winch, wasn't a nice sight to see it just hanging on by a few bits of skin, but was lucky that the hospital managed to sew it back on.
Any way as you say the garden is our therapy and I am already thinking about what i can add and change for next year. A bit addictive really :) :)
