Yesterday, after having cut my lawn, and trimmed the edges, I was raking up all the bits when I suddenly thought about the number of times people complained to me about getting blisters between their thumb and forefinger when using a rake, or hoe, or brush etc, and I have had to tell them how to hold them so that you don’t get blisters.
I wondered how many members, if any, get them just by holding the tool the wrong way, if you hold it as you would hold a rope, ie, with your fist clenched around the shaft, basically between your thumb and fore finger, you will get blisters, if you just put 4 fingers around the shaft and then put your thumb on top of your fingers, you can work like this all day, and not get a single blister, it always used to puzzle me why people held them the way they did, but once i’d shown them the complaints stopped, I hope this has been helpful to someone, Derek.
