I sowed some Swiss Chard seed

and potted the plants on, in 4" pots in the greenhouse.
Am amazed at the speed they have grown this last
3 weeks. Have to put my potted up Leek plants out on
another raised bed, to make more space.
See there are lots of Swiss Chard recipes on line.
Have never done this before.
Worth a try.

I've nevergrown swiss chard either Diane, but at that rate of germination and growth it sounds as if it's worth investigating...;o)

Yes PT - I am going to sow some more seed for a follow on crop. The nutrient content is interesting too.

Let me know how you get on...;o)

Ive grown it. It gets pretty tall if left - mine overwintered. Three plants were plenty so unless you use a lot you may not need second crops. Be interested to know how you go on. Its good in stir fries with chopped leeks or onions and the leaves can be added to salads. It goes to seed rather splendidly eventually.

Popular vegetable here . Served as spinach or beet tops.
One of the most nutritious vegetables around and ranks second only to spinach
