Suffering in the heat wave I am attempting to learn

from it for future plant buying. Recording in my notebook so that I remember in 3 months time. Recommend.

It seems to me that large tubs are better used for small
perennial plants, as they form large root balls which require less water. The plant and the grower benefits.

I have just topped up a 15" square tub with recycled compost so the surface is level, and replanted a Sempervivum that has been soaking in 3" of water all night. Half a gallon of water to finish off and it should be fine. We have still got to get through July.

I have put all my small tubs and pots under the staging for
Spring bulbs. Not being tempted anymore. Hywel is right,
Echeverias and Semptervivim varieties are the best if this kind of weather is going to be our future.

My Alpine Garden is alright so far. Just gave it a gallon.

I like the idea that perennials are better able to survive in pots. I use a mixture of whatever I've got that I think will look good, - but that's something I shall try to keep in mind.

I have lifted all my tubs and pots into the shade. It is the grass I worry about. Can't lift the lawns.

Grass has a good root system. It will always grow again.
The important thing is look after yourself, keep cool, and dont worry.
