Wow that's lovely, not something I have in mine, I'm getting quite scared by the amount of water soldiers rising to the surface, looks like the green bins will be full again once emptied!!

Kathy...what do you mean...bit of a novice with ponds...water soldiers? Green Bins?

1 May, 2015

Don't you compost the water soldiers then?

Sorry Karen yes as Siris says green council compost bin mine are all full already or they'd go in there, they're a floating pond plant that sinks to the bottom of the pond in winter don't know what they do down there!! but in the spring when they rise up again they practically cover the whole surface, have small white flowers too.

I love this pant so thankful of the piece that you sent me HB....

It's very nice and easy enough to control if you scoop the seeded plants out before they sink to the soil in the bottom of the pond. I drag out any I don't want in the early spring before the fish start spawning.

Is there enough room for the waterlily?

4 Jun, 2015

There's always enough room for the water lily Dan....?

6 Jun, 2015

Do you grow your water hawthorn in a separate pot to your lily? I have always had mine in the same pot but this year it's been a disappointment so have ordered new plants.. (Which I'll have in separate pots)

They were all in separate pots Dan but the water Hawthorne escapes and roots into the soil in the bottom of the pond if I don't catch it before the seed plants sink.

Thankyou that's helpful :) I've put my new ones in a separate pot :)
