‘Red Cordyline’

‘Red Cordyline’ (Cordyline australis (New Zealand cabbage palm))

Purchased last weekend at the supermarket. Didn’t have much info on the label. It did however say, height 1.2 m, spread 1m.
I haven’t planted it out yet, due to the recent cold weather.
I think I may plant it in the little bed near the house...maybe. ( not many options/space..)

very nice Kate , my neighbour has them , they are about 8 ft tall , I like them as it gives an exotic look to my garden and shields us a bit , I am growing hedging to cover our fence so it looks like we have big garden and they are ours :D

That’s a lovely architectural plant. They’re listed as borderline hardy but we found that ours survived the winter, so I hope yours thrives (in a fairly sheltered spot perhaps?). It makes a great statement 🙂.

Mossy, I shall have a look at your pics, as I know you’ve a wonderful collection of such plants and ferns etc...I’d like to look at your companion planting.

Kate I have mine in a large pot in the front garden. I give it a feed now and again with general fertiliser that I do all the plants with. It does have a bit of shade in the afternoon. I cut off any spikes going yellow. I shall have to divide and repot my plant soon as it's outgrowing it's pot. It should do well for you.

Thank you, Mossy. I’m definitely inspired by your garden.
