Ouseburn Valley

I went for a stroll along the Ouseburn couple of days ago.
It used to be a very busy industrial area in the 50s/60s. Now a heritage area, so one or two odd sites await the visitor.

As you walk along the path the many buildings are reflected in the muddy still water.

This last one is the Seven Stories Childrens centre, trying to encourage the local kids to read more by making it an interactive site, very popular.

There are many wild flowers and plants, not my forte so dont know names.
Further on near the entrance to the city farm(petting corner for animals etc) a reminder of the historic and dangerous past.

Then at the end of the first section, it goes for miles up into the city and beyond. Up to Jesmond Dean a local Beauty Spot(next week perhaps for the autumn colors).Across a bridge near the cafe/pub you come to an open section with modern structures. This is a view of the Metro Bridge crossing the valley near New Bridge Street.

I like the idea of the seven stories children's centre.

Interesting to see the old and the new side by side. It's nice that they seem to be preserving the old buildings, and finding new used for them, instead of just knocking them down ...
