Autumn at RHS Wisley

With Autumn sunshine it was time to visit RHS Wisley again
First stop of course was the cafe, with this magnificent tree nearby

The lawn was roped off, due to waterlogging, so we walked around via this path

A close up of the red leaves

The path brought us out to this

Walking past crab apples towards the glasshouse

Near the path I spotted fungi & what appear to be the red seed pods from a tree, I couldn’t find the name of the tree at the time

Into the glasshouse, with the Halloween display still apparent

Past the Halloween display into the cacti area

Ideal spot for the artists as well

On into the rain forest part, where my lens steamed over but managed to get this beauty, name unknown as it was confusing around this plant

Outside and walking around the dry pampas prairie area, looking over water with glasshouse on left

Past a yellow crab apple

Then uphill into the rockery, with this view

Onward & upwards, looking towards the Alpine meadow

Then into Alpine house, one eye catching plant was this Arisarum vulgare, label adjacent so no identity problem this time

More roped off areas and building of the new laboratory, completion due 2020, meant we had to continue in half circle towards the exit, passing this small fountain with a the new wisteria tunnel and topiary specimens

And that completed our visit. There is a lot of work going on, including moving the trial beds and landscaping the areas around the new laboratory
Something new to see & photograph in 2020

Thank you for sharing your tour. Interesting and varied set of photos. The cacti area is very-eye catching, and yes ... a great place for the artists.

What a beautiful set of photos! Wisley looks very inspiring. Almost like a big Chelsea without the crowds!

What a wonderful outing. They really do know how to do things there don't they?

all the rhs gardens are worth visiting but I rarely get that far down. The red fruit looks like the strawberries from the strawberry tree Arbutus unedo. The cacti are stunning too.

SG, yes strawberry tree fruit is what I thought but couldn't spot one nearby.
Thinking about it a bit more there are Arbutus further down near the glasshouse cafe so it is possible someone picked them up there & dropped them later

Something for me to check out next time

It is far too long since I last visited Wisley and your blog has wetted my appetite again ..... luckily the horticultural society I belong to makes an annual visit so I am determined to be among the first to sign up for the next one ;-) Many thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the tour. I've been a few times but usually in summer so the change in season makes it totally different.
