I just wanted to share my wonderful start to today. Nothing dramatic – just that I looked out of my back door and saw two tiny things whizzing in and around my crab apple tree. They seemed too small to be blue tits. I fetched the binoculars and saw a flash of bright yellow almost as big as the bird whose head it was on. They were goldcrests!

What is remarkable to me is that I live in a very urban environment. In fact I’ve just checked – St Paul’s Cathedral is three miles away. I hope the goldcrests will stay around and find the food and shelter they need. They seem so fragile – but determined!

So no photos for this blog as I didn’t have the skill or a good enough camera to photograph them – just a link to the page about goldcrests on the RSPB website:

It's great to see these lovely birds returning to the bird feeders now. They're too quick for me to take a pic of too as they prefer the food in my neighbours feeders where they spend some time. What a lovely start to your day, I hope they return :o))

I'm glad you saw them. Hopefully you may see them again if they stay around .

What a lovely little bird...I don't ever recall seeing any but perhaps if they are a fast mover that could be why! Hope they stick around for you. :)
