If you are on waiting list for a allotment and cant wait.

go round to all the allotment sites you know,

ask if there are any spare ,
tip 3
you will never know till you ask.and you might be lucky and be allocated 1 straight away, because that is the way i obtained my was the most overgrown plot on the site, bramble 5 and 6 ft high covering the whole plot ,no shed for shelter, but because i had the tenacity to take it on,i was given it , you will be amazed by what will propell you to clear and start to set it up,it gives you a new zest,and time years will pass like weeks,people on the sites are the most friendly people on the earth, from all cultures and backgrounds ,some folk are retired,some are disabled, some have a full time job take my advice, you might score lucky just like me.

This was covered in bramble that had grown to 5ft all over , it was all removed and burned, using brush cutters in 1 night after work .the strimmers i got from a gardening contractor with pro brush cutters on ryobi strimmers, 2 of us did the work, use face protection though ,next was the constuction of the sheds 2 off 1 a b&Q special for speed of erection, this holds all my gear gas cooker ,tools, etc also gets warm inside when then the gas heater is on,

It must be wonderful to have an allotment. Everyone who has one seems so happy to spend time there.

I am on a very long waiting list, and learned yesterday that plans for 30 brand new ones in a local park have had to be shelved in the face of opposition from local dogwalkers. :-( Good for you, using your initiative and actually getting one. :-)
