Peacocks in full feather!

It’s that time of the year again when the boys have all their feathers back and there is lots of strutting and showing off! Sadly there are no girls to show off to and the Guinea Fowl and chickens are just not impressed.
They also do an awful lot of crowing and calling, luckily we have few neighbours and those we do have don’t mind.
They (the peacocks, not the neighbours) have not been quite so impressed today as it has been sunny, but windy and getting blown about with that amount of feathers just doesn’t put them in a good mood. We are also in an area which has military planes flying overhead, also something they don’t approve of, so lots of hooting and yowling when they are within ear-shot.
Loud noises, motor-bikes, cats, noisy tractors all start them off, so thank goodness for good neighbours!
The grass (can’t call it lawn) is in the process of being ploughed up and re-designed, but I have no excuse for the other weeds!

As I take most of my garden ornaments in for the winter and they haven’t got out again yet, there is a empty spot on the plinth that usually has a fairy on it. The following photo’s were taken when one of the boys decided that this was a nice vantage point – now I shall feel guilty about adding the fairy back to her place.

As the year wears on things calm down and there is less noise. All the shouting is to attract any Peahens in the district. They sit tight, shout and expect the women to come running!

Lovely boys, if you can put up with the noise, apparently there was something in the newspapers about people complaining about the noise they made somewhere - not here luckily.
Spent the day weeding and found some of my plants with the tips eaten off - blamed the rabbits until I turned round and saw Peter (the peacock) happily eating some more! As I had weeded all the rubbish out he can now get even closer!

Oh wow they are gorgeous, I'm not sure about the fairy getting the plynth back either, its the perfect vantage point and not many people have an ornament as spectacular as that, lol....

Thanks Lincslass, they were not happy boys yesterday with the steady rain and today has started with light rain as well, so lots of moaning coming from the roosts in the barn! They don't like the rain, but then who would when that amount of feathers get wet and heavy?
The fairy did go back on her plinth, but as she was glued to a slab of stone to make her more stable and that has become un-glued, now she is probably pretty vulnerable to a high wind and might have to be moved again for the time being.
