Having had the need to clear some things out recently, I came across a handbag in the corner of the living room, inside which I found loose money.

It added up to a few pounds in all, and being that the owner of the said money is not in a position to spend it any more, I spent it for her !! :o)

Knowing the owner of the said money was a plantaholic (like me) I spent it on plants … which included a few Roses, and here are photos of their labels for you to see :-

.

Two new ones that I haven’t heard of before … :-

Golden Showers (climber) :-

Eyes for you (Floribunda) :-

.

Some previous ones that were lost some time ago and now replaced …

Ballerina (Shrub) :-

Peace (Hybrid Tea) :-

Piccadilly (Hybdid Tea) :-

.

And lastly a favourite of the owner of the said money, which she was going to buy but never got around to it …. Iceberg (Floribunda) :-

.

I am looking forward to seeing them flowering in a few months’ time … although I haven’t got a clue where to plant them yet :D

Oooh lots to look forward to there - you will find a space - we all do! My Dad used to plant roses, I remember Iceberg and Peace being favourites. I find them all far too prickly!

Such lovely choices Hywel and I hope they all do really well for you - when you manage to find a place to put them!!

I think we will all be spending many hours in our gardens in the next few weeks!! If not, we shall have to find wide open spaces to visit!

Glad you have a camera again. Please take pictures of your new roses when they are in flower.

There will always be one more space to fit a plant for a true gardener! What better way to spend a few pounds than on a plant that will grow and be a reminder (not that you need one) of the owner of the said pounds. I have lots of plants that make me smile when I remember where they came from and who.

Lovely choices Hywel. I remember you posting a photo of a vase of roses you had picked to let Beryl enjoy them when she was not able to go down the garden. This is a great way for her to tell you to carry on and for both of you to celebrate the strong bond you shared.

I always find a space for the roses Hywel ! But they were very cheap at £4 ! I used to have Golden Showers at Willow Cottage. Its a lovely one and flowers constantly. You will be able to look at these with fond memories.

Perfect choices there, Hywel! I’m sure you’ll find some spaces in your lovely garden to plant them. Good value too!
I’m pretty sure you’ve done the right thing! She’d be happy with your purchases I'm sure. It must’ve been fate finding that handbag with the money inside! The roses, especially the Iceberg, will be a really thoughtful touch.

I grew some of those roses when I still lived at home with my family - more than 50 years ago!

I know you will love them all & the money has been invested very wisely!
