Meet George ...

A lady called Shirley comes to cut my hair, and asked me a few days ago if I wanted another plant.
She said the words ‘another plant’ because she could see all the ones I’ve already got.

My answer was obviously ‘Yes please’ :D

Then Shirley told me about a lady living in a near-by village, whose hair she cuts, and this lady had a plant she wanted to find a home for.
It was because the said lady found difficulty watering it due to bad arthritis in her hands. However Shirley didn’t know what the plant was called, and her vague description struck no bells with me :D

I said I’d have the plant anyway, and after a phone call from Shirley to the lady it was arranged for me to pick up the plant the following day, and when I got there the lady had put the plant ready for me.
It was a palm called Chamaedorea elegans. I used to have one a long time ago and was pleased to get this one now.

The lady wouldn’t accept any money for it, and said all she wanted was for it to go to a good home … which I hope it has.
And before I left with the plant she said “His name is George” :)
So George has come to his new home and I hope he enjoys it here. He has plenty of company :)

Were you expecting a big plant, or did it come as a surprise? It's a lovely plant & looks good where it is now. Lucky you had a space for it.😊. Long live George!

I knew it was a big plant Feverfew, Shirley told me.
I can't leave it where it is in the photo because I want to open the door so I've put it on top of the fridge for now.

That's horrible Loosestrife :(

So pleased you have given George a new home. I too hate discarding plants, just because ....lack of space.... or whatever.
