Humingbirds

I have several hummingbird feeders in a view from my computer chair and love to watch their behavior. They are very territorial .
Few pictures from the closest feeder which is about 8-10 feet from the window.

If anybody interested, I also uploaded a video on Youtube today how they interact in motion

and previously video of having a bath around our fountain

I can't tell you how envious I am of you, Klahanie being able to see these little treasures so close to your home. Feeding our garden finches costs a fortune but I'd bankrupt myself to have these!!

We love them to bits, Anget. We buy a lots of sugar to make their nectar. (4 parts of water to 1 part of sugar)
They stay with us all winter and are depending on us . There are not very many winter flowering plants to feed them all. These are Anna's hummingbirds (Calypte anna). In summer time we also have Rufous (Selasphorus rufus) but they fly south for winter.

They are very entertaining Bathgate.
Do you still have your lizards around?

Yes, LOL I still see them. I had my patio renovated where they used to live underneath in caves they dug out. A lot of their habitat was destroyed with the installation of the new patio. They are slowing coming back and occasionally I'll see one running around, but I can't get close enough for a picture...yet! You have a good memory.

Thanks for posting, Klahanie! Wonderful pics! How lucky you are to have such beauties visiting you. First time I have seen a feeder specifically for them - great to see them feed.
Thanks also for the links!

they are beautiful birds aren't they? I seem to remember being told many years ago that hummingbirds are the only birds able to fly backwards and many actually go into 'hibernation' every night.

Bathgate, I am glad to hear that they are still around even after they were evicted. Obviously they found another safe place to overwinter.

Thank you Jennh, Kate and SBG for your comments.
They are wonderful creatures, friendly and entertaining.
They are the most photographed and videoed object in our garden.

How lovely. You have also taught me something today.
I never knew that hummingbirds would go to feeders! I would sit watching them all day if they were in my garden!
Thanks for posting and the you tube link.

That is sweet of you Bathgate.
Is it recent or from previous years? I know you gave them names. Can you please mention them? I forgot.

I am glad you like these little guys Stroller. It is an entertainment for us, for sure.We have several of these feeders and I can see few of them from my computer desk.
We also have few scattered around the gardens . Hummingbirds are very friendly, always checking very close what I am up to. It almost feels like they would like to communicate with me.

Bathgate, these are great names :-)
