A visit to the Treacle Fair

On Sunday we went to our daughters in Hampshire and spent the afternoon at the Treacle Fair which is a small country show held for one day every year.. It was the first time we`ve been and we had a lovely time despite the threat of rain not a drop fell and the afternoon turned out to be very hot.

I always enjoy watching traditonal Morris dancers. I really liked their costumes and head dresses that were made of pheasant feathers. I wonder how they avoid hitting each other on the head with their sticks!

My 14 mth old granddaughter Sophie and my hubby`s leg!

My grandson Roman had his photo taken with the donkeys for the local newspaper.

Roman climbing inside this huge tractor/farm machine, it was enormous as you can see.

Roman sitting on my son Dan`s shoulders so he could see the young peoples motor bike display.

I bought this book on container gardening for just £1….what a bargain!

Of course you wouldn`t expect me to see a plant stall and not buy anything do you? The plants were all excellent and there was quite a queue there. Apparently the man selling them is a local grower and is there every year. I`m not at all surprised that he did so well, most of his plants that would cost in excess of £7.99 in a garden centre, he was selling for just £4. What was I to do? He also had two foot tall acers for just £9 each, good job I don`t have room for anymore! :o)

In the end I bought just two. Heucherella `Tapestry` and Huechera `Plum Royale`. If I could have carried them I would have bought more. :o)

Roman with the local equivalent of Bob the Builder.

Jim and his furry friend that he bought from a Bric a Brac stall. At one point it was sitting in Sophie`s buggy and atracted quite a bit of attention. One lady told my son-in-law that it looked just like him…lol!

I hope you enjoyed my trip to the Treacle Fair, which incidently named after the local farm. Bye for now. :o)
