Treasures and Features in my garden ........As suggested by Anget....

Anget I took a walk with the camera as we did have a cold but clear day today… Starting on and above the patio..You will notice that some need a wash as the birds have pooped as they eat from the feeders and a couple of them have been in the wars, suffered lost ears , they are very old though….LOL

Below is a Knight Poker Stand, my dad made that when he worked in a foundry, it must be at least 65yrs old…

Harriet cannot understand why the water isn’t flowing, all the animals and birds drink from there in spring/summertime….

Flat iron being used as a stopper for the gate, not sure of its age but I’m 73yrs and it was around a long while before I was…

Through the gate and around to the beach area underneath the dining room window, this area is Caspars Memorial Garden…

If you zoom in you can see I have a few cottages on the my hill side ..

Then its over to the fishpond, a right mixture on here..

Morgan’s Memorial Corner, there is a lovely painted pebble hidden by the flowers, you can just see the Choc/Lab…

Below is my Green Man, his eyes need redoing and he looks bald, in the summer he does have hair but its died back for winter….

As you can see some need some TLC but I treasure them as they all have a story to tell…..

The next three were bought for the garden but I have them indoors as they are special to me…

Thank you for taking the time to do that, Lincs. It must have taken a while with such an enormous collection. I really must do better!
Your older battered friends show their age and are more appealing because of their scars. I do like the elephant particularly. The caterpillar is a charming fellow, too. I am especially fond of the fish. It all goes to show that our 'artefacts' give as much individual character to our spaces as the plants do!
You have prodded me into thinking that I would like to find a memorial for our gorgeous girl, Dora. She is still very much missed. I expect you will do the same for Brynner. Thank you.

You have an eclectic collection there Sue and each item reveals a little something about you. So far I can tell that you are a very caring & thoughtful person with a streak of humor and worldly wisdom. That pair of wellingtons says it all. LOL I enjoyed the tour very much. Thanks for inviting me in. :)

Brynner's Ashes came last week Anget, it was a beautiful casket but they had spelt his name wrong, hubby rang the vet as they arranged it for us, they were shocked but have sent it back to get the correct spelling, next springtime I will lift the birdbath off the rose garden and level the paver, it has tilted since I dug that area, then I am placing Brynner, Malik, Buster, and Leo all in the rose garden, the well is Sam's place, the others are all upstairs in my bedroom, they are the ones we have in caskets...Never had the heart to put them in the garden before but now I am ready.....Lots of pets here and we know every spot.....

What an incredible variety of treasures you have in your garden. I do love the very old, weathered ones that have been out there in rain and shine for many years.
Thank you so much for the pictures of each and every one and the stories behind them.

I expect you know from where and from whom each item came, all with a special memory attached to it.

Well Lincs, your collection has certainly surpassed the others on here.I wonder if you have room left for shrubs.Well done...I particularly like your beautiful owls. The white terrier looks so authentic.

This is such a great sentimental journey! How grand to have a garden so full of loving memories. When you have had to move house quite often as we have we missed out on the chance to keep our pets with us except in our loving memories. All we have here is our three pusscats, appropriately by the side of catmint plants.
Your father must have been a very talented man to make the knight poker stand! You have so many memorials and such variety choosing favourites is too hard...

That's annoying about Brynner's plaque, Lincs, but misspellings or misreadings are quite often the way when we choose unusual names. The eye sees what it expects to see rather than what is actually written. You will be busy in the spring. The roses will make a good memorial.

Thankyou all for the lovely comments, I do know each and everyone of them, where, why and from whom they came from, for instance the castle at the back of the pond was originally my interpretation of Dolbadarn Castle next to Lyn Padern in Snowdonia, obviously as the years have gone by the spreading juniper has grown above the castle so its now a different view, I could move it I s'pose but I like it where it is, anyone who has been there will get the idea....

Blooming heck what a truly fantastic collection you have lincslass, love the bike and the clock and your dad was a clever chap making that knight, thanks for showing us your collection.

wow that is another great collection of garden stuff, love the fish by the pond, great idea of the net over it as well. Imagine it stops the deluge of leaves ending up in there, wish i had done mine as well as i now have the unenviable task of digging out all the rotten leaves that have fallen in there

Thankyou Julien....
Davey the fish was a solar light but it doesn't work now, the peacock is the same, I cannot get new fittings for either, the net is in place to stop our dogs and cat plaguing the fish, obviously it also protects against the heron, although we haven't seen one in a very long time, I know about the leaves in ponds, the stench when clearing is awful and the silt stains ones clothing, I discovered that a long time ago, we don't have a net over our other pond as its only for wildlife, muggins is the one who has to clean it out every year....

What a lot Sue ! I think the knight is brilliant, your father must have been clever to make that. I remember something similar in an aunt's house but it was bought. It held a brush poker and shovel.
I also have some irons and a taylor's duck. I actually remember my grandmother using the irons but they are now somewhere in my shed. x

Hywel he worked at a foundry in the village mum came from, all gone now and its been replaced by new houses, generations of the family in the village cemetery, sadly no-one left in the village now bearing the family name, though I still have two cousins living there......

Rose the bicycle came from Mr Scripps Garage in the village that Heartbeat is filmed in, it was a present to ourselves for our silver wedding anniversary, 27yrs old now...

4 Dec, 2020

Thankyou Klahanie, I could never choose a favourite either....

Hiya Sue, do you mean its 27 years old or your silver wedding was 27 years ago! What a lovely memory you have every time you look at that !
