Tree removal

This tree has been in our front garden for many years and was getting very big.
The decision to remove it was made so Andy our gardener who usually cuts our two lawns came yesterday to remove it. He made an excellent job, and he cleared everything a way.
Now I have an empty space that wants re designing.
Can anybody recommend a small attractive tree to plant
Here he is at work

I personally love Rowan and have on in our front garden.
our neighbour has a Robinia, but not sure which one.
I also like tree pansy Cercis as they flower on bare branches before leaves and the leaves have good autumn colour.

The Cercis is a lovely tree, I agree SB... Also theAmelanchier Lamarckii... Suitable for a small garden.. 5'-6' beautiful white blossom with claret coloured foliage.

Well, I know you can't plant a tree near this old one, but I love the Amalenchiers. Lovely spring blossom and autumn colour and not too large. Another suggestion is Arbutus, the strawberry tree.

Small crab apple? Or maybe a rowan? I'm thinking along nice blossom, shapes & something for the wild life over winter
