A small reminder before lockdown.

I thought perhaps it would be a good idea to stock up on some composts and fertilisers although,I think the GCs will stay open. The lockdown could go on through March and that is the beginning of Spring garden jobs. Last May we found it quite difficult to purchase Violet Farm manure and multi purpose. The GCs had run out of them entirely. I like to use the VF for mulching the roses. My stock from last year had been exhausted.

I’m hoping the lovely’ Shropshire lad’ climbing rose will be even more prolific this year.

Good thinking Meadowland. That rose is lovely.

I think I'll have to buy compost from my favourite garden centre soon. They've usually got lots of different ones there but I'll be sticking to the one they recommended to me last year from now on. (can't remember the name but it isn't one of the usual ones)
I hope I'll be able to get tomato and pepper plants this year. I'm not growing them from seeds again - they were hopeless last year.

I hope your rose does well, it's beautiful.

Paul,I'm sure they will...thank you Klahanie and Hywel...I do admire people who have the patience with seed growing...last year was the first time I bought Perlagonium plugs..will do the same this year.

I'm only growing seeds and plants that I already have, I'm not doing tomato's or cucumbers, so won't have to worry about compost but thankyou M'land for the reminder, my baskets and mangers I'm going to plant up with grasses and succulents which I already grow, if by some miracle this Pandemic gets stopped in its tracks I want to be able to go out and about enjoying life without worrying about watering my plants., hubby is always saying I have to make my garden easier so he should be pleased, lol.......As you probably remember I gave one of my g'houses away last year.....

I've just heard that garden centres in Wales must close but in England they can open. That doesn't make sense to me.

Most weird, Hwyel....if only there was some unity across the UK.They seem to change course from day to day.Another record number of deaths today1004! The highest since April.

Hywel I wonder if Welsh garden centres might do deliveries at a price. Or as supermarkets can presumably do click and collect maybe GCs might as well?

Try and get some while you can, love the rose, I have just moved house and have bought a rambling rector for a new garden, it’s so exciting, I have on my allotment, two enormous compost areas ten x five and six ft deep, I recently emptied it and it has given me sixty good sack fulls, and is now full again , good earthy compost.

How lovely to have a RamblingRector Julien! We were going to have one when we came here but when we realised how big it gets we chickened out!

Yorklass.our local Welsh GC is doing click and collect and deliveries from orders on line.

Thankfully the garden centres have stayed open this time round, Julia! Albeit only for essentials! You’ve been forward planning and it’s a great idea! Last year, we were all caught out with the first lockdown. The rose you’ve posted above is a beauty. Love the colour too.

Its very confusing Hywel, the way I read it, apparently the ones that have the food departments which are most of the really big ones are allowed to open, plus they say its good for peoples mental health so is therefore classed as neccessary., the DIY store in my town is doing click and collect but very low on supplies however I think the garden section is closed, I bought my compost last March/April from Amazon because people stockpiled and I couldn't get any around here at all......

I know the garden centres near here did deliveries last lockdown but I don't know about this time. I'll have to find out.

Thank you Meadowland for making me think about compost. I have just ordered some from Amazon, now I'm all set up for the growing season. Roll on summer!
