Clematis 'Mrs Cholmondeley'

Clematis 'Mrs Cholmondeley' (Clematis)

This lady is very brave - she has been chomped by snails no less than FOUR times, but since I protected her stems, back she has come!

Ah-ha! I get a plastic bottle, cut the top and bottom off, slit it up the side and place it round the stems...then I tie string round it to hold it in place. If the dratted snails try to climb up, I smear vaseline on the bottle!

How crafty is that? The bottle is hidden by the plants in front of the Clematis.

I just HAD to do something to save my Clematis - they ate a whole plant - a white alpina! I hope that's safe, too.

She,s a born survivor Spritz and very beautiful worth all the efforts you have gone through to save her from those dreaded slugs....

A super solution to the problem. An idea I'll tuck away and hope I never have to use it for that purpose.
