I was reading about growing potatoes in tyres a few days ago. You start be planting them in the first then when they are 8 inches high you put another tyre on top of the first fill it up with soil then when the plant growth is another 8 inches high you repeat the process. It seems you can do this up to a maximum of 4 tyres high & you will get potatoes in each of the tyres!
