Willemia nobilis - Willemia Pine

Willemia nobilis - Willemia Pine (Willemia nobilis - Willemia Pine)

I was very excited to see the Willemia Pine at Quail Botanical Gardens. I remember when it was first re-discovered growing in the Blue Mountains rainforest in 1994. It's a distant cousin of the Norfolk Island Pine (Araucaria heterophylla) which is very commonly grown here in California. Photo taken July 6, 2010.

These came on sale over here at £100 in garden centres near me .... i saw them being sold off last year for £30 and was sorely tempted to get one - i don't have the space though :-(((
I've not seen any for sale in a long time now and wonder if the garden centres over-bought, thinking more people would 'have to have' them, the prices stopped a lot of people from buying them.
Were they expensive to buy over there ?

It seems you missed on a great deal.

I've never seen this tree for sale here. Maybe in the near future this rare and beautiful tree may become available for sale.
