I've already picked several bags of toms from our allotment! Gerry's cherry toms have been producing fruit for several weeks now - I eat them like sweets! I was thinking, while picking & eating them on the plot this morning, that next year I'll have to plant a few of these!

I don't know if you know, Drc, but tomatos are best eaten "in the green", as they contain certain phytonutrients not available after ripening; in fact, the riper the fruit, the less good it does you.

I picked almost 5 kilos (nearly 11lbs) of Money Maker & Alicante tomatoes today! I also picked nearly a kilo & 1/4 (2lb 10oz) of the cherry tomatoes I think are Gardener's Delight. :-)

Our tomatoes on the allotment succumbed to blight. I've now removed all trace of the plants, dug the bed over & sowed green manure, to help with soil conditioning for next year.

I picked as many of the green tomatoes as possible & having them ripening in the greenhouse or in the shed.

Today I made another batch of tomato sauce & put it in the freezer.

I still have tomatoes growing on my balcony although I think I will have to pick off the fruit & get rid of the plants during the coming week. They now have blight, too. First time in all the years I've grown tomatoes that I've had any illness. Must have come on my clothes from the allotment.

I think these are 'Gardener's Delight' Linsuffolk, so easy to grow and lots of them I just grow these for eating. I also make lots of green tom chutney which I love with cold cuts.
