hot bed going very pink.

this hot bed is getting mellow with pinks. I think a re-think to heat it up next year is needed.

Mine's faded a bit now, as well. The asters on flower are too pale...I think I'll have to get something brighter and move them.

I bought another Solidaster luteus at the plant fair - I'm hoping that it might be OK facing east. Good start?

is that the new name for solidago? or is it a close relative? it is certainly yellow :o)

It's a cross between Solidago and Aster....and it's lovely. You'd like it - I'll let you know how it gets on facing east. Its whole latin name is S. luteus 'Lemore'. I have another one in the back garden, so I knew it was lovely. I'll post a new photo this evening for you.

Maybe some of the newer orange and yellow hybrid Echinaceas?

I tried Echinaceas facing east, Tug. They lasted for two years, then gave up. :-(((

True, Echinaceas aren't very long lived. : /
We use them as winter annuals, here, but in central Arizona they usually last 3-4 years.
