Water feature

Water feature

One of my customers came up with this excellent idea for an inexpensive water feature which I built for him .

He bought 3 different diameter circular slabs and had a hole drilled through the centre of each. Water is then pumped from below through a pipe which reaches to just below the top of the top slab. The pump sits on the bottom of the pond and is invisible.

The slabs are supported on bricks under the water and there is a gap of about 1 inch between each slab.

The water trickling over the slabs sounds beautiful and also aeriates the pond.

The feature was incredibly cheap compared with shop bought features. ( Cost excluding the pump was about £5!)( I've just checked and there are submersible pond pumps available on the net for £15 including postage )

This pond feature would work equally well on its own as a child (drown) proof pond feature.( just sit it on a dug in wire mesh covered half barrel filled with water. The pump would go in the barrel and the mesh could be covered by attractive pebbles )

The pond had about a dozen large goldfish and each year there would be 200 or so babies. If you look carefully you can see them as dark small shadows in this photo. I can count about 15 .
