This is the one I thought was 'White Feather'! ... It's crammed into a big pot with another 2 different varieties.

Nice one, leaves not so white as mine are they, but perhaps thats maturity !

Lol, Cinders, or too many in one pot more likely! :o)

It's lovely. Wish mine had been in pots, away from snails!!

Unfortunately they often get there in the end, but it does help to keep them in pots I think, and put gravel or something that the snails dont like sliding (?) on.

It is my next years plan!

I mentioned yesterday of a tip in a gardening magazine for keeping beasties out of pots ... mainly ants ... "Put a J cloth in the bottom of the pot, as long as it covers the drainage holes & goes part way up the inside of the pot, nothing seems able to penetrate it, including ants. It will stop slugs from hiding just inside the pot. The J cloth material is virtually indestructible & lasts a very long time." ... maybe worth a try? . . . . .

Thats a good idea. Might try that next time

You have to wonder how people come up with these ideas though! ... Did a J cloth just happen to have been left in a pot ... lol! . . . . .

Sounds like a good idea, thanks Shirley....I thought Hosta 'white feather' had a lot more white on it than 'fire and ice'?....I know my sister has it..perhaps it turns more green with age.....:>)

Might work, Motty ... time will tell! ... I am not happy with the 'White Feather' at all ... in the catalogue pics it is a creamy-white ... allegedly greening as it ages ... mine must have missed puberty then ... lol! ... There is a pic of it, after or before this one, for you to compare . . . . .

Lovely Hosta and thanks for the idea about a J Cloth in the pot , worth a try isnt it!

We shall have to compare the results next year, Carole! ... I need to take those Hostas out soon as the Winter Pansies/Violas are ready to go in ... just don't have the heart to do it yet! ... They have to go to my 'holding bay' out of sight for the Winter :o)

Im afraid I dont have enough room for holding bays, mine just have to say in their pots ready to delight me next year;0)

Oh, it's only the gravel area round near the garage/water butts/composter ... but out of view really ... I only have a small garden! ... :o)
