Hi Sandra, Glad the new fish have settled in well. Bet they loved the warmth from the sun. We've had some sunshine this week. Got to grips with some of the gardening. Spent quite a bit on new pots and plants....

Hi Sandra, nice to know you have some additional mates in your pond,I too count my pond fish almost every day so your not alone there,it shows that you care about them lol.
Along with my pond fish I have now started keeping tropical fish indoors and have 4 aquariums, become a bit obssesive with them, but they are a joy to watch and very relaxing. Everyday I count all fish in the aquariums and get quite upset if I lose any.
I had to clean my pond out a few weeks ago and unfortunately found one had got caught up in blanket weed by the waterfall and died,oh well.
Nice blog by the way, thanks for sharing.

Hi Diy... thanx for reading and sorry you lost one of your fish, it happens but still sad, that blanket weed is a nightmare and i drag it out each day in summer so it doesnt take over.
your Aquariums sound lovely but hard work looking after them all, but if its something that makes you happy then its not hard work but relaxing :o))

Barley straw is the best treatment for blanket weed once you have pulled out as much as possible. We got a small bale from a local farm last year for £5. You only need a few handfuls tied and weighted in an onion bag or such like bag and sunk to the bottom of the pond. We have had very little blanket weed since using this. It used to be awful. You have some nice colourful fish Sandra.
