What's this? this is Lonicera tartarica! (Lonicer tartarica)

Haven't seen this shrub before. It has benefited from a thorough pruning..lots more blossom than last season..the fruit are small, red, and expremely bitter to the taste. Found it! tartarian honeysuckle.

My first stop was a wildflower site...and I found it! it's Lonicera tartarica. I thought by the shape of the leaves that it could be related to honeysuckle but the flowers do not have much scent and they produce berries! I have had Lonicera "Dropmore Scarlet" , no scent and no berries and viney. This is a shrub...very tall 10-15 ft...extremely old, has a trunk!...has existed on this site a very long time in full sun, on thin sandy soil, and in an extremely well draining spot so that it is mostly on the dry side. it flowers on old wood so the new growth I've allowed from the bottom has fewer flowers on 2nd year growth.
