Oyster catchers in the Belper River Gardens?

I went for another early morning walk and saw these about 7 a.m. I heard the call first and thought that's an unusual birdsong. I went along and managed to get a few photos before they took off. The wings were white underneath and very angled in flight. I think this is unusual to see these here, but I may be wrong. I have sent a photo to the local newspaper, but whether they print it or not I don't know.

We get loads of these here Linda, but they are unusual in many parts of UK.

Last year was so wet Linda! I hope you saw some sun! We only get a summer like this every blue moon!

We had a super week of weather Karen, we went at the end of May beginning of June. Fab week. All the Bluebells were out and it was even hot when we went up Ben Nevis.

Perhaps they are having their holiday after all the hassle of rearing young. Our garden has gone very quiet indeed. So where do the birds all go at this time of the year Lindak?

My garden Dorjac......I have the Tuesday group to my home for their annual tea before breaking up for the Summer so I have been busy preparing food. The birds have lots of tasty treats on the path at the moment. Our birds have their fledglings with them and are still feeding them.

They are going to build a new tearooms in this park....eventually. We walk around this little park quite a lot and with the river running through there is always something different to look at and this year the perigrines have nested on the mill and have reared their young so it has been very interesting.
