Spread through the ditches . Some as big as trees. Looking very healthy.

There must be enough moisture for these plants in the ditches , mustn't there ?
We have two "mock" castor-oil plants and apparently they belong to the ivy family .

Katarina, yes...castor seed contains ricin, a toxic protein .
Although, castor oil is valuable and used in medicine.

Here are some other beautiful poisonous plants :
Fixglove Digitalis purpurea
Hydrangea macrophylla
Lily-of-the-valley Convallaria majalis
Angel's Trumpet -Brugmansia
Oleander (Nerium)
white snakeroot
Colchicum autumnale
Lantana Sumac
Morning glory
Sweet Pea

and many more.
Even lots of edible plants have some part toxic
Rhubarb leaves or Potato Plant Leaves

They can pop up in the middle of asphalt or concrete.
Nicotiana glauca grows the same way here in California.
