Snow in Summer

Snow in Summer

Only know what this is cos I found a label a couple of inches down. (Wrong! label was for extinct plant. Thank GoY for people who put me right!) Now I can find out what it does and when it does it - trails even between the bricks - unless a top course was added later!

I have just been reading your blogs,Fran..and was going to tell you what it was,but you now know:o) Don't be scared of being really ruthless with this,or it will be just as big as summer progresses..I would pull or dig, preferably, most of it out, then just replant a small clump to trail over the will spread sideways as can then be in control of it. Or you could just chop it hard back, but you would still have lots of fine roots..You could then you plant something else to complement the grey grey foliage..I must admit,I do like mine as the pure white flowers are lovely, bit is definitely a thug..good luck, and your planters are looking lovely :o)

Thanks, Bloomer! :-} it's good to have double confirmation

I did manage to get a couple of clumps out with roots, and put them in a small tub behind the bed - it had similar in it already, but that was looking a bit sad. Hope the new stuff takes - but doesnt' take over. I don't know if the "wall" will stop it creeping, but it might hold it back a bit. otherwise, I'll leave just the separete tub with it in.

Found that RHS had actually heard of this plant! but "pruning" it said "not necessary" - oh, do they think so?? of course, it might bave been a variation on the mian plant

I had dreamed of a miniture landcape, with trees and shirbs and stuff, maybe I'll get to that one day, but what I've got will do nicely for now

I guess the RHS was thinking in terms of a huge area for it to cover! It's tough as old boots, whatever you want with it,it will still repay you with new fresh foliage and flowers..I am going to trim mine back this fills a nice gap in a dry area under a tree, where not much else will grow, good job something will grow there :o)

lol indeed, Bloomer, we all live in Stately Homes, don't we?

I'll try giing mine a haircut - as I've two lots, one in the main bed and one in the side-tub, I'll just do one, in case ...
