Tall Canary Island Pines (Pinus canariensis) and Rusty Figs (Ficus rubiginosa) blowing in the Severe Thunderstorms

Tall Canary Island Pines (Pinus canariensis) and Rusty Figs (Ficus rubiginosa) blowing in the Severe Thunderstorms (Canary Island Pines (Pinus canariensis) and Rusty Figs (Ficus rubiginosa))

Today San Diego was hit by many severe thunderstorms thanks to tropical storm Odile. The winds we so strong in areas there was widespread damage. We need the rain; however, we had so much rain in a very short period of time there was a lot of flash flooding. Also, the temps were 106ºF (41.1ºC) in many areas inland (like where I live). Tonight at at 11:30 p.m. it's still a stifling, very humid 90ºF (32ºC), which is forecasted to be the hottest night of the year. Photo taken at my friends' house on Sept. 16. 2014.

Thanks. I was at my friends' house because the a/c there is much better than mine. My house with the a/c on full blash is still getting up to 90ºF (32ºC). It's extremely uncomfortable.

What was so amazing about these severe t-storms is how they overturned so many air planes at Montgomery Field. In the 70 year history of Montgomery Field Air Port they've never recorded such an event.

I hope that it has all settled for you now , Delonix .
We were in Spain last week with the day-time temp at 32c and found it hard to cope , at night it must be quite dreadful .

We had a 71f low in Hayward..and the high was only 80f. The weather the last two years in California has been like climate change before your eyes.

Yes, the weather has settled down. It's back to somewhat normal. It's still quite warm; however, not extremely hot.

Yes, I saw the morning low of 71ºF. (22ºC) I almost could believe it; although, I have seen it that warm in the past, in Hayward.

The morning low here where I live was 80ºF (27ºC) (Wednesday). This is very unusual even for the middle of July or August. I've seen many morning lows of 77ºF (25ºC) here; however, morning lows warmer than that is extremely rare.

But, other times when its been near 70 as a was 100f+ during the day. This had to be the first 80h 71l Andy, ever recorded. Sure,it was just one day...but "flukes" are coming faster and faster.

That's a good point and very true.

The weather is warming...this is very evident in the temps.

I remember the horrible, horrible heatwave of June of 2000, when the temps were up to 110ºF. The lows around the Bay were in the mid 70's. I remember it so well because I was packing to move to San Diego and it was so miserable!
