Strelitzia reginae - Bird-Of-Paradise Flowers

Strelitzia reginae - Bird-Of-Paradise Flowers (Strelitzia reginae - Bird-Of-Paradise)

The plants are still blooming. They are grown here by the millions. I'm attaching a link to a video which explains how to grow this plant very well.

This is a beautiful flowering plant, I also like the dark one, but the one I have is as pretty as your picture, though I don't think pretty is the word for such a wonderful sculptured plant. I enjoy scketching plants such as these. thanks for sharing the utube. I need to keep mine from growing too big, if let go those things look like monsters. Im glad it is not hard to control and keep to desired size.

Thanks! :>)

This Bird-of-Paradise and the Giant Bird-of-Paradise (Strelitzia nicolai) are extremely common here in San Diego. This one posted is in my front yard.

You can control the size by pruning the leave back, though the leaves can grow to almost 8' (2.4 m) tall.
