Carnary Island Pines (Pinus canariensis)

Carnary Island Pines (Pinus canariensis) (Carnary Island Pines (Pinus canariensis))

Many of the tree in Balboa Park is suffering badly or dying the the historic, extreme drought. These trees are dying from the top down, most likely because not enough water can go up the trunk and nourish the tops of the trees. Photo taken Feb. 12, 2016.

It's so sad! :>(( So many of the trees are dying in California. This year we were expecting records rains because of the "Mega" El Niño. This El Niño is the strongest on record. Typically, during a very strong El Niño we receive approximately 200% of normal rainfall.
