Pond this evening...can you see my fairy door?

Pond this evening...can you see my fairy door?

Today I pulled out a lot of blanket weed with a cane, then put in water treatment and added four new plants. A couple of pots needed moving so you can't see the rims of them....got wet and cold doing that... Then I topped it up and now it's looking ever so much better.

I've been treating mine too! Yours is looking very well :) my treatment has worked but it's all sank to the bottom, tomorrow I'll partially drain mine to get all the stuff out :) then refill with Waterbutt rain water

Some of mine has floated! Some has sank and clogged hk the pump :)

Have found a straw bale is good to keep the Algae down....have you tried this Karen?

I have Julia...no joy. Perhaps a bit more warmth is required than Scottish weather can supply!

Evening sunshine creates such a lovely, peaceful effect.
Barley straw should help I think.

Nope...didn't make a bit of difference I'm afraid.

..come to think of it, the staw bales I put in last year must still be in there somewhere!

Oh dear!

To be fair, it might make a difference this year. Last summer was so cold...unbelieveably cold.

It's so expensive to buy, but concentrated Barley straw extract is the best treatment and really works to control it. It gradually cleared my pond of blanket weed after raking it out from the plants. We had tried all the other pond treatment and was so glad to find this. We even made our own one year but forgot to get a Barley straw bale last year and the farmer had used all his small bales this spring for his turkeys.

Concentrated barley straw extract you say? I will look into that. Thanks HB!
