Watsonia pillansii "Apricot"

By Siris

Watsonia pillansii "Apricot" (Watsonia pillansii)

Given a dry mulch, this survived outside overwinter, to flower again in its second season.

I am jealous Siris. I bought Watsonia bulbs last year.... put them in the pot in the hot spot... but they do not flower. I want to leave them in the pot because someone told me that they can be invasive . Are yours invasive?
I love these apricot or pink ones. Mine are orange.

Klahanie, I bought this in a pot already grown, and it stayed outside in the ground overwinter still with foliage, covered in mulch Because it was successful I bought a couple of dry corms while on holiday in Madeira, potted them and over wintered inside, planted out the pots in spring but they did not flower but increased by 1 corm each, dormant now and back inside. Think too cold here to become invasive?

Thank you Siris for sharing your experience. It is probably too cold here too. I will leave them be where they are and see what happens next year. I just have to learn that not everything will do well for me and some will be eaten by critters. Hopefully lots left for me to admire.

Let's hope both our corms flower next year.

You know where I bought this, Dd, at Garden Beauty. Only have this one which remained sort of evergreen under its dry leaf mulch. The Maderia ones apparently go summer dormant. Thinking about summer dormancy, my blue Camassia's leaves are nearly all brown and crispy now.

I do remember...we were unable to go, or arrived later on in the day?
