Lavatera Barnsley.

Lavatera Barnsley. (lavatera)

This flowers so well and so long every year, even though I cut it down almost to the ground each spring.

I like it where it's been for the last 10 years. The actual root and ?trunk is all knarly. Someone told me that cuttings take easily but I haven't tried taking any.

Bought a Barnsley baby and a large one this year.....the baby is struggling but the other has romped away.....so you cut yours right down in the Spring HB?

I've taken cuttings before and yes, they are easy, reminds me to do some, thanks. My plants keep surviving but the bases are all bent and twisted.

I cut it down to a bud about a foot from the soil. It grows so quickly.
This is what Crocus recommend...
Garden care: To prevent shrub from getting straggly, cut back hard to within 30cm (12in) of ground level in spring, after all risk of severe frosts has passed.

Thanks Homebird. I took some cuttings today. It's good to know how to prune properly
