Astrantia 'Hadspen Blood'

Astrantia 'Hadspen Blood' (Astrantia major (Masterwort))

I have been trying to get this established since I came. I've lost several plants to slugs, but at last I do have some decent flowers this year. :)

Another example of : you should never give up.

I more or less had though. I thought if these don't take I'm not buying any more. I find that usually works with plants...just giving up, leaving them alone and forgetting about them. Then they buck up just to show you! ;)

Such a pretty plant. Karen, have you just watched Gardener's World? RHS Chatsworth featured a nursery from Scotland with a wonderful collection of Astrantia ... :o)

Weren't they lovely? I have never even heard of that nursery. Of course, they may not open to the public. A lot of nurseries are trade only. But I do love Astrantias, they are so easy usually and they flower all summer. :) Really enjoyed GW tonight. I would love to go to Chatsworth. I've never been there. Maybe next year I will go as I am going to be going south for my Niece's wedding. I wouldn't be there for the show, but I would love to see it. The setting is stunning isn't it. And I think the House Gardens would have plenty of interest for me.

They certainly were gorgeous. I have to confess that when we lived near Chesterfield for about a year, back in 1986/7, we didn't even visit Chatsworth House! I can only think that with children aged 5 and 3 we had different priorities then ... :o)

You will love Chatsworth Karen, its amazing, we have been to the country fairs a couple of times but it has become so expensive and the last time we went it bucketed it down so the ground was a mire. lol. The house is stunning, never been inside but its a lovely scenic setting, you will love it.
Now I love Astrantia's too, bought a couple more last year, the Abbey Road is lovely you would like that one, the other one has not flowered yet! Visited the Scottish website of the one they were talking about on the tv it has dozens of different astrantia. I felt another obsession coming on so closed the site quickly. NO MORE ROOM. lol.
