My Pond

My Pond

I can't remember who it was that advised me to flood the pond once a week...but it definitely helps keep the green water under control. I have defeated the string algae for now, which is a huge achievement. Best of all, the two water lilies have both returned. I thought one had died. We are beginning to get a bit more surface coverage at last, but it's taken a LOT of plants, many of which never got established.

It looks really good Karen. I realise what you mean about the 'green water', our pond is at its clearest when it rains. As we have fish, we can't use tap water to top up or 'flood' and sometimes have to resort to watering cans full of rain butt water.

a small water pump would help, it keeps the water agitated. but then you have to run a wire, which is no good.

Solar perhaps Karen?

No, dont think so. I had a pump in my first pond...with a light filter box and it made no difference at all. Waste of money. I dont mind the green water too much.
