MacArthur Palm (Ptychosperma macarthurii)

MacArthur Palm (Ptychosperma macarthurii) (Ptychosperma macarthurii)

MacArthur Palm is not too common in San Diego, CA. There's some much larger ones around the San Diego Zoo, though. It's a very tropical palm native to northern Australia and New Guinea. Photo taken July 25, 2017.

You dont many postings of that palm in soucal on the palms boards. Its great looking. There used to be two 20' in Southland mall. Like a giant greenhouse in the atrium.
They removed them. Malls saving money on maintenance I bet.

There's more than you know growing here in Soucal. It needs partial-shade when young, though. When large it appears to tolerate full sun very well.

There's some at the San Diego Zoo that are taller than 20'. I'll try to get's in a very difficult place to photograph, though.
